Description

Brand new club Cable set to be the latest exciting addition to London’s clubbing landscape on May 22. The best things often spring from unexpected places. London has had a long and rich history of fashioning white hot clubbing experiences out of the most unlikely areas – the past 10 years alone have seen a proliferation of exciting clubs flourishing in the most far flung reaches of the city, subversively transforming formerly derelict and humdrum areas into suddenly desirable, must-see clubbing destinations. It is in that spirit of things, of sedition and surprise, that we present to you the latest addition to London’s already exciting clubscape, due to open May 22. Ensconced deep within the atmospheric labyrinth of London’s Victorian aqueducts and archways – a place steeped in history and gritty ambience – Cable promises to be one of the most intriguing new propositions that the city has to offer. Come this month, the Railway Arches on Bermondsey St will be transformed into the brand new, innovative clubbing experience known as Cable. At once preserving the raw, enigmatic and industrial feel of the original space while adding its very own original twists and touches, Cable looks set to be one of London’s destination venues for clubbers the world over, with a potent and eclectic programming slate and a thrilling fitout which will comprise of 3 rooms, including a parlour room connecting the 2 dance floors, both even boasting their own bars, and a bespoke soundsystem by European sound specialists Nova. In addition, tucked away in their own little vaults are offbeat alcove seating areas adding to the exciting environment of this most unusual place. Strategically positioned in the centre Archway, there is a large bar area with its own Mezzanine floor, where punters can either rest and relax or survey the rest of the club at their leisure. Off this mezzanine, there are another two Archways, where the toilets are situated. Furthermore, underneath the men’s toilets is a walk way that leads out of the club and into its very own private undercover smoking area. And for some peace away from the madding crowds, there are some quieter places away from the hubbub of the main Archways. And there is much, much more besides – such as Cable’s 23½ hour licensing policy, or the fact that the club opens until 8am on Saturdays and 6am on Fridays, or that it is smack dab in the middle of London, with access to numerous transport links, be it by Tube, or bus, or cab. And let’s not forget the music programming, bound to be one of the most eclectic and electrifying in clubland today. That is the only way to describe a club with upcoming nights from Forever Heavenly (on the 1st Friday of every month), Mark Moore and Boombox/ Ponystep’s Jerry Bouthier (their night Can Can will boast takeovers from the iconic likes of Nag Nag Nag and Kash Point), Andy Blake’s Dissident Records Sunday morning club, and Dark Star’s bi-monthly events, hosted by The Freaks, Ashley Beedle and Cosmo. What can we say? London has done it again. See you up the front... CABLE 33a Bermondsey St SE1 2EG http://www.cable-london.com
